You might be thinking to yourself: is the 8th year anniversary of our marriage worth celebrating? I don't want to sound cruel, because the obvious answer is yes. What I was thinking is we often make a big deal about 5, 10, 15 year, etc ... but nothing in the middle. Well, let me prove you wrong!
According to http://anniversariesbyyear.com, the 8th year is represented by giving gifts of bronze or pottery. Well, we failed in that regard. It's interesting, because we have never really been gift-givers to celebrate our anniversary. Yes, we'll go out to dinner and do something, but never are gifts exchanged. We also made it past the infamous "7 year itch," so that counts for something, right? I do make it a point to get Cassie some nice flowers though!
This year, I thought we would do something special that was different than other years. So we decided to go down to the place where we were married and spend some time there doing temple work. It's a nice drive through the country and we had quite a good time. In all honesty, we kind of had an anniversary weekend. The temple was on Saturday, and then on Monday (the day before our actual anniversary), we had a successful shopping trip for Cassie and then we had dinner at Texas Roadhouse. I was definitely craving the steak!
