Arizona Vacation

It's been a while, so hopefully you haven't missed us too much! For the past week, we had a blast down in Arizona. The weather was super nice, up in the 70s probably. On the way home, we even had a glimpse of what the rainfall can be like as well. Chris is proud of himself, because this is the farthest in distance and time he has driven. The bathroom and gasoline breaks did help break up the monotony, as well as good conversation and other time distractions.

Something funny happened on our journey, and it literally took the space of 2-3 hours (maybe even longer) and had 3 total occurrences! To get to Snowflake, we went the route that goes through Page and Flagstaff, instead of the route to the east. We saw this trailer hauling damaged and/or totaled vehicles. It was during one of those long stretches of pretty flat and featureless terrain. Anyway, we passed the truck and made it to Page. After filling up with gas, we got back on the road and after some time, we caught back up to the same truck. Same story ... after filling up with gas in Flagstaff, we pulled out and the truck passed us as we neared our interstate connection. We had a good laugh because of that, and Cassie took a picture. Otherwise, it's a weird picture to take.

We were able to visit some awesome people: the Dunford's, from Pennsylvania (connection: Chris' mission); Cassie's aunt and uncle and grandma, Chris' cousins, and the Myers. Naturally, most of the time we spent talking and catching up. It's unbelievable how much people have grown up and changed over time. It's been about a decade since Chris met the Dunford's, which is hard to imagine. And to see the Myers children was special. We are so grateful for our family and friends for having us visit and for the good memories we were able to create together.

We also made it a point to visit all of the LDS temples during our journey: Snowflake, Mesa, Gilbert, and Phoenix. All in all, we were able to see the vast expanse of desert, the wooded mountain areas in the Coconino region, and the urbanized metropolis that is Phoenix. It was a long but fun trip for both of us.
