Promises are Fulfilled

When we started this blog months ago, it was with the intent to share with the world our desire to have a family. As we thought about what we could name the blog that would convey that intent, the current name of “For This Child We Have Prayed” was a finalist. We wanted to express our faith in God and His will for us. As you can tell, that name stuck.

It only seems fitting to finish that verse of scripture. Instead of the KJV, we will quote from another: “… and the Lord has granted the desires of [our] heart” (1 Samuel 1:27).

Please welcome Baby T! She was placed with us by her courageous and honorable birthmother Wednesday afternoon. We wish we could convey the hurricane of emotions—the mixture of happiness, fear, anticipation, potential, sorrow, and light. We would be amiss if we did not honor her mother Ashley. This wonderful woman has done for us what we could not do for ourselves: she gave the priceless gift of family, of a beautiful child. Our hearts cannot express the deep feelings of gratitude, compassion, and love for her.

And now the next adventure begins: sleepless nights; the revolving trifecta of food, poop, and sleep; and all that comes with having a little one in the home. We love Baby T. She is beautiful and sweet, strong and expressive. She is certainly a daughter of God, with the potential to rise to greater heights than what her parents could achieve.

It’s an interesting phenomenon. You wait and pray and hope and guard yourself, but when it feels right, things fall into place. We are witnesses of this grand process. We are so grateful and excited for the newest chapter in our lives.
