Reuniting the Family

We spent this last weekend with Chris' extended family from his father's side. We went to the all-abilities park that we have talked about before—this time, we got to be under the large gazebo with the bell tower (which, at each hour, chimed quite loudly). It is a nice setup, and more importantly, completely shaded. It has been so hot that it is setting records! We all ate, played in the park and water, and talked to some cousins that we hadn't seen for years! We had a great time. Now that both of Chris' grandparents have passed away, it's a little different, but it was nonetheless so good to see all of the family members from that branch of the family.

Family is important to us, and we have been blessed with family close by that we often see—maybe not as often as we might like, but it's satisfying to know that we have people who we love that are nearby and can be called upon at any notice. Unfortunately, life happens, distance increases, and pandemics happen. It's unavoidable and can be tricky to make plans that work for everyone. You do your best and hope that those that do come enjoy the experience. Maybe a surprise or two will even happen.

As you can see, our loved ones still get together and have a good time!
